October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Since October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I am going to turn my site pink. If any of you who also have websites would like to join me, please visit http://pinkforoctober.org/. This is to raise awareness about breast cancer and to help raise money for research. I could list a bunch of scary statistics now, but won’t do that. Most people know the seriousness of this disease and know that it can be very deadly. But the good news is the death rate from breast cancer is dropping with each year and the survival rate is rising. Early detection is the key and women, please get regular checkups and mammograms! My wife is living proof that if caught early enough it will only be a speed bump in the road of life.

Also there are many different fundraisers and walks going on all around the country. Here in the Atlanta area, the 2-day walk is this coming weekend (Oct 3rd & 4th), the 3-day walk (Oct 23rd-25th), and the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk takes place on October 24th. If you can’t participate in one of these walks, please make a donation to a walker or directly to the website. Every little bit helps!

Go Pink!
