SEC Honors

The Dawgs pulled out an ugly victory last Saturday against Arizona St. in rainy Athens; a win is a win though! There were some high points to the game and a couple of players played great games. A.J. Green, whose eight catches included a career-long 56-yarder for a touchdown and a 36-yarder to set up the game-winning field goal, was named the SEC's Offensive Player of the Week. While Justin Houston, who put a lot of pressure on Arizona State's quarterback from his defensive-end position, was named the league's Defensive Lineman of the Week.

Green gave Georgia its second consecutive SEC Offensive Player of the Week, following Joe Cox, last week's winner.

Green's eight catches totaled 153 yards, giving him 16 catches for 312 yards in two games against Arizona State. He also made a huge play on special teams Saturday, blocking an ASU field-goal attempt late in the fourth quarter to preserve a 17-17 tie. Georgia then drove down the field and won the game as time expired on a 37-yard Blair Walsh field goal.
Here is AJ blocking the field-goal attempt.

Also, those stats don’t take into consideration that he was robbed of a TD in the 4th. Check out this link to see a picture to prove that he was indeed robbed!

Justin Houston, making his second start of the season, had four solo tackles against Arizona State, including one sack and two tackles for loss. He was a key performer on a defense that limited the Sun Devils to 204 yards offense (88 rushing and 116 passing).

I just hope we can make it three weeks in a row with top SEC Honors after beating #4 ranked LSU on Saturday!

Go Dawgs!
