Wine Review - Girard 2007 Sauvignon Blanc

With the warm snap here in the south this week (it has been in the mid 70’s this week, what’s up with that?), I decided to review a crisp, refreshing Sauvignon Blanc. Girard Winery in Napa Valley has been around for 35 years and is a known for their exceptional Cabernet Sauvignons. As well as some big bold Zinfandels, Syrahs, Cab Francs, and some blends. They also produce a Chardonnay and a Sauvignon Blanc.

The 2007 Sauvignon Blanc is a fresh, clean and crisp, bright wine and is perfect for a warm December (or summer) evening. With aromas of green apples, citrus, and even a little fresh cut grass, this wine smells like a nice spring day. It is very light in the mouth and has flavors of citrus and melon with excellent acidity. This is a very food friendly wine that would go perfectly with lighter seafood or chicken dishes. We had it as an Aperitif and it was extremely refreshing. This wine was made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes from Napa Valley. The California Wine Club introduced me to this wine and winery, but I have also seen it in retail stores in the Atlanta area. It retails for $18.99. So if you are looking for a bright, crisp white, give the Girard Sauvignon Blanc a try, you won’t be sorry!

Cheers!
