An Impressive Comeback

Back on October 16th, Georgia’s next star QB broke his ankle in a game and was thought to be out for a minimum 3-4 months. This would have meant that his high school football career was over. Aaron Murray who attends Plant High School in Tampa, Fl and has already committed to Georgia for next year, didn’t want to go out that way and the only way he would be able to change his legacy is if his team made it to the playoffs and then to the finials. Well, his team held up their end of the bargain and made it to the Florida State finials last weekend. Aaron defied even the most optimistic predictions on when he would be back and was cleared to play after 7 weeks. Just in time for him to play for a championship.

As a Georgia fan, this worried me some, but is also shows the character of this kid. I am glad to see him want to help his team and show his toughness. Coach Mark Richt even called him during the week to offer his support and endorse his decision to play. Murray is the top QB prospect in this year’s class and chose Georgia over 53 other scholarship offers. He completed 18 of 30 for 344 yards and three touchdowns in the 34-14 win over Lincoln to win the Class AAAA Championship.

So even if Stafford decides to leave UGA early for the pros, we have another great QB that can come in and compete for the starting role. Murray could possibly win the job, but will probably be redshirted and the battle will be between Logan Gray (Mr. Football in Missouri 2006) and Joe Cox (Mr. Football in North Carolina 2004). The future looks bright for the Dawgs at the QB position!

Nice job Aaron and Go Dawgs!
