Wine Review – 2006 Cloudline Pinot Noir

Cloudline Cellars is pretty new to the Oregon wine scene, but they are already making their mark. This is actually a venture of Dreyfus, Ashby & Co who is a importing, distributing and marketing firm based out of New York, but Cloudline Cellars is located in Willamette Valley, Oregon. Their first vintage was in 2002 and it came out with high reviews and they have continued with the 2005 and 2006 vintages. The 2006 has a nice ruby red color and it shimmered nicely in the glass. It has aromas of berries and hints of herbs while in the mouth it is very soft with fruit-forward flavors of cherry, blackberry and hints of oak. I really enjoyed this wine, but feel it could benefit from another year or two of aging. We enjoyed this wine while having some smoked Gouda and crackers, but I confident it would hold up to several different types of dishes. This pinot noir retails for $19.99 and I would recommend trying it. I have seen it in several different wine stores around the city so it shouldn't be too hard to find.

Cheers!
