I am not happy that Russia won the World Championship, but I am happy the Kovy did play good and get the game winner. At least that is some good publicity for the Thrashers and lord knows the Thrashers need some good publicity right now!
This is the place to see my thoughts on life and the world in which I live.

A Thrasher wins a championship!
No, not the Thrashers, but a Thrasher! Ilya Kovalchuk scored his second goal of the game in overtime, giving Russia its first title at the world hockey championships since 1993 with a 5-4 win Sunday over Canada. The match took place in Quebec City and the Canadian team was leading 4-2 in the third period and I am sure those hockey crazed Canadians were going crazy. But they couldn’t hold off the Russians! Rick Nash was sent to the penalty box after accidentally sending the puck over the glass from his own end. The Russians then put out four forwards for the 4-on-3 advantage and Kovalchuk beat Canadian goalie Cam Ward with a wrist shot at 2:42 of the extra period. That is what sent the Canadians home crying! This was just payback for last year when Canada beat the Russians in Moscow. This also keeps the home country curse alive. There hasn’t been a World Hockey Championship won by the host country since 1986 when the Soviet Union won on their home soil.
