Today is the first day of the New Year on the Chinese calendar. This is the year of the rat! That is not as bad as it sounds. In Chinese philosophy, the Rat has strong associations with material success such as wealth and other luxuries of life. That is good for all of us! Legend has it that in ancient times, Buddha asked all the animals to meet him on Chinese New Year. Twelve came, and Buddha named a year after each one. He announced that the people born in each animal's year would have some of that animal's personality. Children born in the year of the rat could become wealthy and have successful lives. They will be quick, energetic, and have the ability to mold themselves easily to adapt to their situation. This makes them excellent problem solvers. So don’t think that the year of the Rat is going to be bad, is should be prosperous for all, especially the children.Happy New Year!
