RIP MCA!

Beastie Boy, Adam Yauch has passed away after his battle with cancer.  He was diagnosed with a cancerous parotid gland in 2009 and he fought a good battle.  It seemed he was improving but recently took a turn for the worse.  Better know in the music industry as MCA, he co-founded Beastie Boys in 1979 with Mike D, and Ad Rock ... and went on to churn out some of the most iconic albums in hip-hop ... including License to Ill, Paul's Boutique, Check Your Head and Ill Communication. The group has won multiple Grammys and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year.  Most people don’t realize that not only we he a unique and talented rapper, but he was a great musician as well.  All of the Beastie Boys are very talented musicians, not just rappers .  Adam was 47 years old and leaves behind his wife and young daughter. 

Even though I am not a huge rap music fan, I have always appreciated the Beastie Boys.  I have several of their CD’s and I have seen them 3 or 4 times throughout the years.  They put on a fantastic show!  Here is a clip of one of the times I saw them live.  It was at the Langerado Music Festival in 2008.
