Karate Chop!

The boys have been taking karate for several weeks now and they have both really taken to it. We have tried other organized team sports and neither of them enjoyed it. It became a fight every time there was a practice or a game. I guess they just weren’t ready for being on a team. So we thought we would try karate and we couldn't be happier with the results. They really want to go to class and usually go three times a week. They practice at home and they are improving each day.

At this karate school, after they attend 10 classes in a row, they get a small stripe added to their belts. The color of the strip coincides with the age group they are in. Since they have just started, they are still white belts but they now have a red stripe on their belts and are close to getting another red stripe.
Here they are in class.

Here they are getting about to get their first stripes!

Henry getting his stripe.

Mac is getting his stripe.

I really hope they stick with it, it is good exercise and it teaches them discipline and self control and Lord knows they need that!
