Blackhawks hoist the cup!

It is one of the hardest championships to win in all of sports and they have not had a Stanley Cup in Chicago since 1961! Well, it is there today and the longest drought in hockey is no more. The Chicago Blackhawks beat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 in overtime to win the series 4-2. It was another hard hitting, fast skating game where both goal tenders were standing on their heads! But just 4 minutes into OT, Patrick Kane threw a bad angled shot on net that happen to slip by and into the net. At first there was no signal that the puck was in the net, only a mild celebration by Kane and some of the other guys on the ice. But after a short review, it was official, the Blackhawks win!

The outcome of the cup finials is not a surprise to me since Chicago was the 2nd seeded team in the West while Philly was the 7th seed in the East. Also, on paper Chicago had a lot more talent but you can’t measure heart and that is why they play the games. But what surprises me the most is that just three years ago, the Blackhawks were in last place! So that give me hope that the Thrashers can be playing in the finials in a few years! Speaking of the Thrashers, former Thrasher Marian Hossa played in his third straight Stanley Cup Finials and has lost the previous two. I really wanted him to lose again so he could set a record, but that didn’t work out. Since I am not the type to hold a grudge, I am glad he finally got the hoist the cup. Even though he screwed the Thrashers and their fans, he is a good player and seems like a nice guy. So good for him!
