Thrashers making a run!

As most of you know, I love the Thrashers and I feel like they actually have a good team assembled right now, even without Kovy. But this time last week, I didn’t feel good about the prospect of them making the playoffs. They were in the middle of a 5 game losing streak and sitting in 13th place in the standings. In the past few days, they have beaten 3 playoff bound teams including beating the very physical Philadelphia Flyers twice this past weekend. There were some really hard hits and a couple of good fights in each game.
Here is Jimmy Slater taking on a Daniel Carcillo. Jimmy usually doesn't drop the gloves so it wasn't a pretty fight. It looked more like two drunk Irish guys dancing a jig than a hockey fight, but according to Hockeyfights.com, Jimmy Slater won the fight with 71% of the votes.

Now they sit one point out of the finial playoff spot and play the team sitting in that last playoff spot on Tuesday night down at Philips arena. The Boston Bruins will be in town and this could be the biggest game of the season, even though there are still 10 games or so left in the season. The Thrashers have really come together after the Olympic break. Even while they were losing those 5 games, they looked better organized and played with a lot of grit. They got a little unlucky but now the luck is going their way and they are coming out with the wins. Unfortunately, the schedule doesn’t have any roll over teams and it will not be an easy task to make the playoffs. But I do have a good feeling and I know if they continue to play like they have in the last five games, they will be playing some playoff hockey down at the Phil! So, if you can, get out and support the Thrashers on this last playoff push!

Go Thrashers!
