2010 FIFA World Cup Draw

The cards are finally on the table for the world to see! The thirty-two teams comprising the FIFA World Cup tournament were divided into eight groups today in Cape Town, South Africa. The US got a pretty favorable draw but is forced to open up against England, which should be their toughest opponent in the first round. I feel that the US will hold their own against England and have a real good shot at winning the head to head match up. But even if they don’t, the first two teams in each group advance to the next round. The other two teams in Group C are Algeria and Slovina. I will be the first to say I have no idea how good these teams are, but in reading up on the draw, most feel that the US should win those games easily. So I expect the US to advance to the second round!

Here is the entire draw for the World Cup that starts this summer in South Africa:

Go USA!
