Pink the Rink

The Gwinnett Gladiators (the ECHL Affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers) will be hosting the 2nd Annual Pink In the Rink Weekend this Saturday and Sunday. They will be dying the ice pink and will be wearing special Gwinnett County Relay for Life commemorative jerseys. Some of the boys will be sporting pink hockey sticks during pre-game warm-ups. And they will be doing it all in the name of good fun for a good cause.

This weekend, they will be attempting to bring more awareness and to raise money to fight cancer. Several local groups including The Sport of Giving, Emory Eastside Hospital, the American Cancer Society and the American Business Women's Association have been working hard selling tickets and raising interest for the cause. The game on Saturday night is against the South Carolina Stingrays and the puck drops at 7:05pm. Then at 4:05pm on Sunday, the Gladiators will play the Charlotte Checkers. This is a great opportunity to see some good hockey at a very low price and help support some great causes.

It's also the perfect solution for a fun-filled Valentine's Day. Sure, when you mention sports everyone thinks about guys. But did you know that professional hockey ranks at the top of women's attendance in professional sports? Maybe it's the non-stop action. Maybe it's the lively atmosphere. Maybe they like the players. Who knows? Whatever the case, a nice pre-game dinner at one of the local restaurants and then a hockey game on pink ice…you can't ask for a better Valentine's Day date. So come on out and see some big bad hockey players wearing pink and skating on pink ice! You got to love it!

Go Glads!
