Stafford and Moreno both will enter the 2009 NFL draft

ATHENS, Ga. --- Junior quarterback Matthew Stafford and redshirt sophomore Knowshon Moreno announced at a joint press conference at the Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall on Wednesday afternoon that they will be entering the 2009 NFL Draft.

This is not a shocker to me; you usually don’t call a press conference to say that you are staying in school! Like I said in the previous post, I don’t blame the guys. If I had that talent and I was pretty much guaranteed to go in the 1st round of the draft and possibly even the 1st pick of the draft (Stafford) it would be hard to turn it down. They both had great careers in Athens and will truly be missed. I wish them the best in the NFL and can’t wait to see them play on Sundays. I just hate to think about Stafford playing for a team like the Detroit Lions, but who knows, maybe he is the missing component they need to turn that team around?
