Kovy makes the All-Star team

There hasn’t been much for Thrashers fans to be proud about lately with the team being last in the division and almost last in the conference. But today there is something for the fans to be happy about and that is Illya Kovalchuk as been named to the Eastern Conference All-Stars. Kovy is the only Thrasher on the team and he will be making his 3rd appearance at the mid season game. This year the game will be held in Montreal on January 25th. I am glad for Kovy getting named to the team but I am not sure someone else on the team shouldn't have made it. Brian Little and Slova Kozlov both have more goals than Kovy at this point of the season and close to the same amount of assists. But Kovy does have more total points and is clearly the most exciting player on the team. Also, Kovy has shown more leadership this year and has clearly become a team player and leader unlike years in the past when it only seemed to be about him getting his shots. So, I guess he is the best selection from the lowly Thrashers. I am just glad that there is a rule that each team has to have at least one representative to the game or it would be all Montreal Canadians. It is clear that they stuffed the ballot box with three of their guys starting the game!

Nice job Kovy!
