500 points in 500 games

This season, I haven’t written a lot about the Thrashers, mainly because they are not having a great season and there isn’t much to write about. But in last nights 4-2 win over the New York Islanders, Illya Kovalchuk got his 500th point and it was in his 500 NHL game. He got points 500 and 50 of his professional career by assisting on two goals, the first one to Brian Little and the second on a pass to Colby Armstrong for an empty netter. This year Illya is proving he is a team player and will do everything he can to get a win. He is blocking shots, getting back on defense, passing well and he is not afraid to mix it up with the other team and throw some punches. These are all things that he hasn’t been doing in the past few years. He has definitely grown as a player and has become a team leader. Now if we can just get the rest of the guys to play to his level we can turn around the season. Nice work Kovy!

Go Thrashers!
