Dawgs are #1

Well, I wish that the Georgia Bulldogs were still ranked #1 in the BCS polls, but after a couple of tough losses, that can be forgotten. But we are # 1 in one thing, penalties! For most of the year we have been hovering around the top of the most penalized teams in division I football. Two weeks ago we were #1 but after having a pretty disciplined game against Kentucky, we dropped back to being #2 behind TCU. But after another game where stupid mistakes and dumb penalties kept the Auburn Tigers in the game, we have regained the title! The Dawgs had 9 penalties for 95 yards on Saturday with four of them being personal fouls. Listen, I understand the game is intense and sometimes you get pretty emotional on the field. Believe me, when I played I was a hot head and I would get in scuffles all the time, but these guys need to cut it out! Most of the fouls came at crucial points of some of Auburn’s drives and that kept their drives alive. Georgia probably should have lost that game on Saturday and it could be directly related to the penalties.

Even though Auburn is having a pretty miserable year, I knew it was going to be a tough game. But we let them hang around and gave them a chance to win it in the last seconds. We were moving the ball pretty good until we got to the red zone, then we just clammed up! I don’t understand some of the plays that were called. At times I thought Coach Bobo was watching a different game? Anyway, a win is a win and I will take it. But being the most penalized team in the country is not a good distinction. I sure hope the guys on the team enjoy their extra up-downs this week!

Go Dawgs!
