Tough game in Death Valley

This weekend, the Dawgs travel to Baton Rouge to play the defending National Champions. I am very nervous about this game! It is not an easy task to go into Death Valley and come out with a win. Even though the Tigers have a loss and are ranked lower than the Dawgs, they are still favored to win by 2.5 points. That should tell you how much the home field means to LSU. It is going to be a very physical game and I expect that Knowshon Moreno and Caleb King should both have big games. But it is all going to come down to Stafford and the receivers. If we can make some big plays downfield, we should be able to come out with a victory. Stafford needs to play smart and not try to force balls into double coverage. He has thrown 5 interceptions in the last 3 games and he can’t afford to throw another one tomorrow.

We have to contain their kick return teams. They are very dangerous and have the skills to bust some big returns. The Dawgs defense has been depleted due to injury, which means our guys, are going to have to stay on the field longer and not get as many breaks. This will make it hard for us to contain their two outstanding running backs. In addition, our defensive backs are a lot shorter than their receivers. So we will have to have great coverage on the guys out wide while our line gets some pressure on their QB’s. But the biggest thing the Dawgs need to control is their penalties! We lead the country in penalties and we can’t afford to give away yardage and allow easy opportunities due to dumb penalties!

The loser of this game is basically out of the hunt for a National Title. So this game and every game remaining is a must win for the Bulldogs. I am hoping for a repeat of the last time these two teams met with a Georgia victory by the score of 34-14! They kick it off Saturday at 3:30 on CBS. It should be another good game in the SEC!

Go Dawgs!
