The Tour Championship

Over the weekend, the last PGA tournament of the season was played here in Atlanta at East Lake Golf Club and it was a good one. Even though Vijay Singh had the FedEx Cup title wrapped up before the week started, there was still a good battle to win the tournament. Since the tournament only consisted of the tours top 30 players, there was good golf all around, but on Sunday there was some great golf! At the top of the leader board sit some young guns as well as a couple of the tour veterans. It was a shoot out all day with the lead changing several times between Sergio Garcia, Phil Mickelson, Anthony Kim and Camilo Villegas (Spiderman). It finally came down to a playoff between Garcia and Villegas to see who would walk away with the hardware. Both Mickelson and Kim missed birdie opportunities on 18 to join the playoff. Villegas was able to take advantage of a poor tee shot by Garcia in the playoff to win the hole and the tournament. That was a 3 million dollar payday for 26 year old who is from Columbia. But don’t feel sorry for Sergio who got 2 million for his efforts. But those pay days are nothing compared to Vijay’s pay out of 10 million for winning the FedEx Cup! It was an exciting finial round and who said golf was dead without Tiger. I think it might have been a little more exciting since the rounds were much more competitive.
Here is a picture of Spiderman (Villegas) lining up a putt.
