Another Brave is out!

Mark Kotsay the center fielder for the Braves has been traded to the Boston Red Sox for a single A prospect. The trade was finalized on Wednesday after a couple days of negation. Kotsay, 32, hit .289 with 26 extra-base hits including six homers and 37 RBIs in 88 games and spent five weeks on the disabled list for several back problems. In return, the Braves get Luis Sumoza. He has hit .301 with team-highs of 11 homers and 38 RBIs in 51 games for Class A Lowell (Mass.) while batting cleanup. But the best thing is, he is only 20. Kotsay now goes from being on a team with no shot at the playoffs to a team that is deep in a playoff hunt. Even if Sumoza isn’t ready to play in the majors next year, we have Schafer ready to be moved up from triple A. This trade is just another step in the rebuilding process that the Braves are in right now. Also, it will free up some $$$ to possibly go after C. C Sabathia or another big time free agent in the off-season. So I think this was a good move by the Braves.
