Uga VII to be unveiled at the home opener!

Sonny Seiler and his family are still in the process of deciding which family pet will become the next UGA mascot. UgaVI passed away a few weeks ago from congestive heart failure and he will be deeply missed. The Seiler’s are still trying to get through all of the cards and letters sent to them from friends, fans, and strangers in response to Uga VI’s passing. The family has several possible candidates to chose from and will sit down soon as a family to decide with will become the next Uga. Usually Uga is a part of the Fans Picture Day just before the season kicks off, but this year they will not take part. "Oh no, that wouldn't be fair," Seiler said. "That would be cheating the 92,000 fans who buy tickets and travel to Athens for the game. We think that's the appropriate place and time to introduce Uga to the world."

Whichever English bulldog that takes over, as the symbol for the sports programs and the University in general, will have some big paws to fill. Uga VI had a great record and a great personality. But, I am sure that the next Uga will be welcomed with open arms by all of the Georgia fans. This will be a good year for him to make his debut. So get ready Georgia Southern, not only are we going to debut a top ranked team, we will also be debuting a new Uga!

Here is a shot of Uga VI rocking the black jersey!
