Panic in Charlotte!

Over the weekend Jim, BK and I traveled up to Charlotte to catch the last Widespread Panic show of the summer tour and it was well worth the drive! This was one of the best shows that I have seen in a while. The entire Panic experience was great. From hanging in the lot, to the venue, to the music and the old friends that we ran into, it was a great night. Even though we don’t go to nearly as many shows as we used, once you are in the lot the energy and the vibe hits you like your last show was just the day before. For those of you who have never been to a show or aren’t familiar with the jam band scene, it is totally different then just going to see a concert or a band play music. It is a relaxed mindset and a friendly feeling that you get once you get in the lot. Everyone there shares the love of good music, friendly people and having a good time. I have taken a lot of people to their first shows and they all went in with a little skepticism and all left as fans. My most recent convert was cousin Ricky at the Orange Beach shows. One of the old friends we ran into this weekend actually thanked me for taking him to his first show back in 97 in Memphis. Now he is a huge Panic fan and knows what song is next by the first or second note of the song. This show would have definitely made fans out of anyone going for the first time. The second set was incredible! It was like a greatest hits set! For those of you who would actually like to listen to the entire show, you can do so by going to Panicstream. Today the fall tour was announced and they will be playing in Atlanta on October 17th and 18th. I can’t wait for those shows!
