Wine Review - 2005 Dan Gehrs Wines 2005 Unoaked "Santa Barbara County" Chardonnay

This is another good wine that I have gotten from the California Wine Club. This is the 2005 Dan Gehrs Chardonnay. Daniel and Robin Gehrs founded the Daniel Gehrs Winery 1990 in Los Olivos, California. Even today, their focus remains the same, creating small lots of high quality wines. This chardonnay is no exception. This is a unoaked chardonnay and that is refreshing these days when most chardonnays are overoaked! (Be on the look out for a post on oaked vs non-oaked chardonnays) On the nose it has strong aromas of lemon citrus and green apple. Then on the palate, it packs a fruity punch with apple and a hint of honey. It is nice not to be overwhelmed with oak and to truly taste the wine. It retails at $19 but it is currently on sale through the wine club. This wine will go good will kinds of food, especially white fish and smooth cheeses. Also, it will age well if you would like to cellar it. I just ordered a few more bottles from the wine club!

Cheers!

Is it me or is this blog turning into an advertisement for the California Wine Club?! I hope you get some free wine for all the plugs!
