Phish reunites!

You read the headline correct, the four members of the band Phish were reunited the other night on stage in Madison Square Garden. Only they didn’t perform, they accepted a lifetime achievement award from the Jammys. The Jammys are awards given to bands that fall in the jam band genre and usually aren’t recognized in mainstream music.

The guys from Phish haven't been onstage together since their last performance in Coventry, Vt., in 2004, which wrapped up a farewell tour and a 20-year run for Phish. Since then, each has been working on individual projects. Trey Anastasio and Page McConnell did perform that night, but not together. Everyone in the jam band community was excited with the anticipation of the guys reuniting to play a couple of songs. But instead all they did was graciously accept the award. "They helped establish a model for a lot of jam bands that came after them," said Allman Brother and Gov't Mule's Warren Haynes. "They are one of the forerunners of this movement and it's great for them to be here."

So I guess for now, the Phish phans have to stay patient and hope they will reunite again soon, but this time with their instruments. I for one can’t wait for that day and feel like it will happen sooner than later.
