I know this post is a little late, but I have been extremely busy lately and unfortunately this blog is getting a little neglected. Anyway, I wanted to send out some congratulations to Sergio Garcia for winning the
The Players Championship on Sunday. He did it in dramatic fashion by paring the first playoff hole, the signature 17th, against Paul Goydos. It is about time Sergio came through with a win in a big time event. This is his 7th victory in his career and by far the biggest. He has been close several times including finishing second to Phil Mickelson last year at this tournament. He bust into the golf world back in 1999 when he came in second at the PGA Championship to Tiger Woods. Since then he has been close to winning a major tournament, but never came through. This isn’t officially a major, but among the players it is just as big. Maybe he will build on this win and be at the top of the leader board next month at
The US Open.
I actually met Sergio a few years ago at Lenox Mall while he was there promoting his
Adidas golf line. He was really nice and I was surprised how small he was. I was at least 2 inches taller and of course several pounds heavier. It is hard to believe he can hit a ball 330 yards off the tee!
Nice Job Sergio!
