Thrashers will pick third

As much as I am disappointed, disgusted, and upset about the season that the Thrashers put together at least there is a silver lining to the end of the season. In addition to the players they acquired in the Hossa/Dupuis trade (Armstrong, Christensen, and Esposito), but they will also get the third pick in the upcoming draft that will take place on June 20th in Ottawa. I hope they play it smart and pick a big defenseman, we have a good core of scorers and role players, we desperately need a solid defenseman. The rest of the top five draft order is as follows:

#1 Tampa Bay Lighting

#2 LA Kings

#3 Atlanta Thrashers

#4 St. Louis Blues

#5 New York Islanders

As for the quest for Lord Stanley’s Cup, the playoffs started this week and even though the Thrashers didn’t make it, I am still looking forward to some good hockey games. There are some good first round matchups and there should be some great hockey games to watch in the next few weeks!
