Meg is doing fine after her port removal yesterday. They didn’t put her under for the procedure and was awake during the process. She actually was caring on a conversation with the doctor the entire time. They did numb the chest and shoulder area, so she didn’t feel anything, but she did say that while he was fusing the vein back together, it smelled like burning hair. That is pretty gross! She only had a couple of stitches and some slight soreness. Also, we met with the plastic surgeon today to talk about the next steps for her. There will be another surgery sometime in May to clean up some of the scaring from the previous surgery. Also, it will almost complete the rest of the reconstruction. This surgery won’t be nearly as long or as complicating as the first one. It should take about an hour and she will only need about a day or so to recover. That is a huge difference from the last surgery.
