Today was opening day for Major League Baseball, well kind of. This morning at 6:10am in Japan, the Boston Red Sox played the Oakland A’s. So much for America’s pastime! This is the earliest first game of the regular season ever. Boston ended up winning 6-5 in 10 innings and in front of 44,628 fans. But it doesn’t really make much sense to me, because most teams are still playing exhibition games. There will be another regular season game tomorrow in Japan between the same two teams and then they fly back to the US and play two more games against each other on April 1st and 2nd. The rest of the teams don’t actually open their season until this weekend. The Braves open their season on Sunday in Washington against the Nationals. This will be the first game in the Nationals new stadium. Then the Braves come home on Monday for their home opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates. I am looking forward to Major League Baseball getting back into swing of things and I am also looking forward to the Braves bouncing back from a disappointing season last year.
