We meet with the oncologist this morning to get the results of the MRI and to talk about the next steps for Meg. The images from the MRI on her liver have not changed since before her treatment. Believe it or not, that is good. That pretty much rules out that is cancerous. They did leave the door open to that possibility, but the radiologist and the oncologist both feel that it is nothing more than a cyst or misshaped portion of her liver, which is something pretty common in women. The doctor wants to do another MRI down the road, probably about 6 months from now. If those results are the same, then they will know it is nothing serious. Her blood counts were pretty good, the white counts were still on the low side, but not dangerously low. The doctor said they would slowly get back up to normal levels in about a week or so. Her red blood cells are at a good level as were her hemoglobin levels. She will not have to get any more shots of Procrit or Neupegen. They also drew blood for a different test to measure her hormone levels. Once those results come back, Dr. Austin will make a decision on which form of hormone therapy Meg will get. Those results will be back on Monday and we should know by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week which form of hormone therapy she will be getting. That will be a daily pill for her and she will probably have to follow that regimen for up to 5 years.
Overall, she got a good report today. We were a little nervous about the liver, but that seems to be normal. Meg is feeling better but she still has a ways to go before she feels good. Even though she is done with her chemo treatments, she still has some lingering effects in her body. There is not a switch she can flip to make herself feel good. She still has some aches and pains and gets easily fatigued. She will have some more surgeries in the near future (port removal and plastic surgery cleanup) but overall she is over the hump and we couldn't be happier! I am so proud of her, she is the strongest person I know!

I think everyone is soooooooo proud of Meg. I know I am and I have nothing but respect for her. We all watched as the chemo made her sicker and sicker, but she stood tall and proud. She never showed us how much she hurt or suffered. She still tried her best to be a good mother and wife and she was just wonderful.
Alan, you were a rock and we are soooo proud of you too.
Love you
