ING Marathon and Half Marathon

This weekend will be the second running of the ING Georgia Marathon and Half Marathon. I ran the inaugural race last year and had a pretty good time, I finished right at two hours. I am not going to run this year for a couple of reasons, one of which is the fact that we had a pretty miserable year dealing with Meg’s breast cancer and treatments. The other being that I am fat and lazy! Even though I am not running this year, I do have some friends that are. I want to tip my hat to them because training for full marathon or even a half marathon is not easy. It takes a lot of time and determination, not to mention it is extremely hard on your body.

The friends I am referring to call themselves the “Stunning, Running, Thirty-something’s”! The group consists of Julie, Kathryn, Kelly, Kim, Sarah and Whitney. These young ladies have been training for months and have had to endure sicknesses and injuries. One of them has even been blessed with a pregnancy. But they are ready to take on the 13.1-mile half marathon course on Sunday. If you can, get out there and cheer on all the runners and support these girls as they try to top their times from last year. Believe me, the crowd support goes a long way when you are at your limits.

Good luck girls!

By the way, Kim is the one who is pregnant and she only plans to walk part of the course and not run the entire distance. Smart thinking Kim!
