Wine Review – 2008 Mulderbosch Cabernet Sauvignon Rose

With the weather turning from warm to hot, we are definitely drinking more whites and roses. I have been trying more and more wines from South Africa lately and I have found a gem. Mulderbosch Cabernet Sauvignon Rose is a great wine for the price! Mulderbosch Vineyards is located in the heart of the Stellenbosch region and has recently been resurrected from a dilapidated old farm.

The winery is well known for their Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignons, but this Cab rose should be recognized as well. It has a very bright strawberry color in the class and has aromas of cherry, peaches and fresh flowers. On the palate you get a little surprise, there is a touch of cherry but mainly you get a peppery and spice taste. Even thought it is not as fruity as most roses, it is still very refreshing. It would be great on a picnic or as an aperitif. Also, it would go great with sushi or grilled seafood dishes. I found this bottle for $12.99 and it is worth every penny!

Cheers!
