Phil wins in Shanghai!

Phil Mickelson pulled off an extraordinary feat on Sunday, outlasting Tiger Woods and Ernie Els to win his second World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions. Mickelson was the only player to shoot all four rounds in the 60s and earned his fourth victory of 2009. Phil has won the last two tournaments that he has played in and has finished the year strong. Mickelson shot a three-under-par 69 on a dramatic day of golf to finish on 17-under for the tournament and pick up his second World Golf Championship (WGC) title and a check for $1.2 million.

The final round had been billed as a shootout between the top two in the world but after number one Woods faltered on the front nine and was really never a factor on the back nine. Phil was able to hold off charges by Ernie Els, Ryan Moore and Rory McIlory to get the win and grow his already huge popularity over in China. This was Phil’s last tournament of the season and he is going to focus on his wife and mother’s recoveries and treatments for Breast Cancer. He definitely ended the year on a high note wining in China and in Atlanta at The Tour Championship. Phil is playing great golf right now and I am sure he is looking forward to the 2010 season.

Nice work Phil!
