The Tour Championship

The finial four rounds of the PGA Playoffs started today. Each player in the field has earned their spot by having a solid year on the tour or exceptional play in the previous playoff rounds. They are playing at historic East Lake Golf Club here in Atlanta and with all of the rain we have had in the past two weeks, the course should play really long. But don’t think that the greens are going to be slow, they have the sub-air system on every green and that will allow them to make the greens as fast as they want. East Lake has such a great history and story that I can’t think of a better place to hold the finial tour stop. It was founded in 1904 and was the home course of the Great Bobby Jones and Charlie Yates. It has come back from the dead and is now one of the most prestigious courses on the tour. It is going to be a challenging course and it is only fitting that the best players in the world are teeing it up this weekend. This is the best of the best on the PGA tour. The field is only 30 players and it should be an exciting tournament to watch, especially on Sunday. Of course Tiger Woods is the odds on favorite to win the tournament and the FedEX Cup, but several players hold their own destiny in their hands. I think guy like Jim Furyk, Phil Mickelson, Zach Johnson, Padraig Harrington, Stewart Cink, Sean O’Hair and Lucas Glover, have a good shot at winning. Then of course if any of the top five in the rankings win the tournament, they also win the FedEX Cup. It is going to be a great weekend for golf and I expect an exciting finish on Sunday. I am just glad that the winner of the FedEx Cup is not determined yet, like it was last year. That will only add to the excitement of the tournament.
