Thank you Nanny!

Well, it has been a tough couple of days for all of us in the family. We are all fine and in good health, but we are having a tough time with the departure of our nanny back to Brazil. She had become a part of our family and was the only one who has taken care of the boys besides their grandparents and us. Nereide, started with us 3 months after Mac was born and she has special relationships with both Mac and Henry. She was also a very important person in helping to care of Meg through all of the surgeries and the chemo. She truly was a part of the family. Both boys are going to have a tough time adjusting to the new Nanny but I am confident that both boys will soon love the new nanny as much as they love their first one.

Nereide and her husband are going back to their farm in Brazil to reunite with their kids and grandkids. We knew this day was coming but it is hard to really prepare for the actual day. We threw a going away party for her on Sunday and invited all of the friends and the kids that she has helped to take care of over the years. Before she was our nanny, she took care of Jason and Terry Brooks first son, Connor. She also was a frequent babysitter for our friends, Mike and Kelley Swinney and their son Liam, who live in the neighborhood. They all came over along with our parents to thank Nereide and wish her the best of luck with he life back in Brazil. It was a lot of fun but didn’t come without some tears. She truly touched all of us and we are very thankful we had her in our lives for the time we did. We all plan to stay in touch with her and perhaps even make a trip to do Brazil to visit her later down the road.
Here is Neriede with Meg, Terry and all of the boys she has been a Nanny for.

Nereide, loves our kids as if they were her own and was very involved in finding her replacement. She actually introduced us to Jacqueline whose first official day as our nanny was Monday. Jackie is also from Brazil and was a nanny for another family for a number of years before she came to us. I think she is going to do great with the boys and she will pick up where Nereide left off when it comes to molding their minds and morals. She also plans on continuing to teach the boys how to speak Portuguese as well as starting to teach them Spanish. Nereide will be missed and we wish her the best of luck in her travels back home and in the future. We hope to one day see her again but until then, we will stay in touch with her through emails and pictures.
