Resource for the rap music illiterate

I know it can be frustrating to hear a hot new track by one of the hot new rap artist and not understand a word they are saying. Well I found a site that will help us all no matter how old or white you are.

http://www.understandrap.com/

This site is a great tool for those of us who are rap musically challenged and don’t really understand what a lot of the lyrics really mean. The web site Understandrap.com is an earnestly conceived repository of user-submitted explanations for confusing rap lyrics, helping to "bridge cultural and generational gaps that are preventing people from appreciating rap music". You will find rap lyrics with an interpretation right under it. It is a very useful tool in understanding exactly what the kids are listening to these days. Here are a couple of examples:

in the M6 doin' tricks
Term from Song: Bartender on Album: Epiphany by Artist: T-Pain
He is in a BMW M6 driving recklessly

thank God for Mom and Dad for sticking two together
Term from Song: Hey Ya on Album: The Love Below by Artist: Andre 3000
this simply means that he's grateful to God that the girl's parents got together/married and had her as their child.

the disco ball in my mouth insinuates im ballin'
Term from Song: Drive Slow on Album: Late Registration by Artist: Kanye West
"look at how shiny my teeth are. I wear diamond studded dental fixtures to tell the world I have money."

Please use this resource wisely to get back on the hip side of life! Wait, I don’t think you would see that saying on the Understandrap site. It is way to white and way to easy to understand.
