“It’s flattering to be ranked No. 1, but as any coach will tell you, the polls don’t mean anything until after the NCAAs in May,” Georgia coach Chris Haack said. “We will continue to work hard in practice and in qualifying to make sure we have the best team on the course representing the University of Georgia. That’s really all that we can do. Everything else will take care of itself.”
The Bulldogs also ended the fall with the No. 1 ranking after posting three top-5 finishes, including wins at the Brickyard Collegiate and the Isleworth Invitational events. Golf World Magazine, Nike Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America produce the Golf World/Nike Golf Coaches Poll. Georgia also is ranked No. 1 in the Golfstat poll, while the Bulldogs are No. 2 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index. Georgia will open the spring portion of the 2008-09 season Feb. 27 at the Puerto Rico Shootout.
Go Dawgs!
