I really feel sorry for Brendan Jones from Australia today. He is the guy that drew Tiger Woods in the first round of the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship. He is the sacrificial lamb to Tiger, or another way to put it is he is the Washington Generals to Tiger being the Harlem Globetrotters. I guess someone has to play him first! The first tee was 10 people deep today when Tiger and Brendan teed off. The cheer for Tiger when he was announced was defining while the introduction for Brendan only garnered the traditional golf clap. Tiger’s comeback to competitive golf could be the most compelling return in golf history and poor Brendan Jones has the undesirable task of being Tiger’s first victim. Brendan Jones is ranked 64th in the world rankings and doesn’t stand much of a chance today. He is going to have to play the best round of his life to win and even then, Tiger is going to have to show some rust if Brendan is to pull out the upset. But just think of the exposure Brendan Jones is getting, so I guess it is not all bad!
Welcome back Tiger, I assure you the entire golf world is happy you are back on the course. Well, maybe not all of the players?
