SEC play starts this weekend!

OK, I guess you can say the preseason is over for the Dawgs; they start SEC play this weekend against the South Carolina Gamecocks in Columbia. There are no easy wins in the SEC anymore. Every team is capable of winning on any given Saturday. On paper, the edge seems to lean towards the Dawgs. We have more talent at all of the skilled positions and we have more experience, but it is never that easy! Crazy things usually happen when these two teams get together. Last year, the Gamecocks came into Athens and stole a win. The year before, JT III got hurt in the first quarter and Stafford came in to get his first real playing time and threw three interceptions. Then who can forget the crazy play that David Pollack made to win the game back in 2002, or Quincy’s 4 int’s in 2000, crazy things always seem to happen and again I am expecting the unexpected. But I am also expecting a win. I just feel like South Carolina has too much turmoil going on with their team. They can’t decide on a QB, they have players getting in fights on and off the field and Spurrier’s offense isn’t fooling anyone anymore! But USC does lead the SEC in total defense while UGA leads the SEC in total offense. So something has to give and I am predicting the Dawgs will break the Gamecocks hold as the defensive leader. This game always makes me nervous but I predict that it will be close for a couple of quarters and then the Dawgs will pull away in the second half. Kick off is at 3:30 on CBS, so be sure you don’t miss the first win in SEC play for the Dawgs!

Go Dawgs!
