Wine Review – Greg Norman’s 2005 Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir

This was not my original choice for the wine review entry for the week. But with Greg Norman being at the top of the leader board for The British Open, I felt like I should give him another headline and review one of his wines. I had to blow the dust off of my notes for this wine since I had this bottle several months ago. But the Greg Norman 2005 Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir is an exceptional wine at a reasonable price. Once I poured it into a glass, I noticed it’s dark scarlet color. It looked more like a cab or merlot in the glass. But it was not nearly as heavy as a cab or merlot. It has aromas of strawberry, dark fruit and a hint of vanilla with some earthiness. It has a nice feel in the mouth with tastes of cherry, strawberry, and even a little spice. It has a nice smooth finish and leaves you yearning for the next sip. I got this bottle for $17.99 but it tastes more expensive. Nice job on the wine Mr. Norman and nice job on the links. I am rooting for you to win The Open Championship.

Cheers!
