Possible Bartman sighting soon!

Since the infamous night of game 6 in the 2003 NLCS, Cubs fan, Steve Bartman, has pretty much been MIA. On that night, Bartman interfered with a catchable foul ball that might have changed the outcome of that series and possibly the World Series. He was the most hated person in Chicago and still might be. No one in the media has talked to him or seen him since that night. But that might change soon. He has been offered 25K to make an appearance at a sports memorabilia show and sign just 1 autograph. The details of the offer are below:

From the Orlando Sentinel:
To collect the cash, all Bartman has to do is show up at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill., at 1 p.m. on July 31, prove his identity and sign a photograph of the infamous play. It will then be auctioned on the Web site with the proceeds going to a Chicago-based charity, according to a news release for the event.

"No one in sports memorabilia history has ever been paid $25,000 to sign one autograph — not Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali, Joe DiMaggio, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, or any other athlete,” said Mike Berkus, co-Executive Director of The National. "Steve Bartman has been a recluse for years, but we’re hopeful that he will accept our invitation and generous offer to appear ... We have personal security to provide to Steve at The National and to a destination of his choosing.”

If he were to show up, the 25k might cover the medical expenses he will endure once the rabid Cubs fans get a hold of him! That would be a tough offer to turn down, but I will be very surprised if he shows up. We will have to wait and see, because I am certain that he will not publicize the fact that he plans on making an appearance.
