UGA Spring Awards

Spring football practice is over and the G-Day game was a pretty good one. Even on a ugly, rainy day there were 20,000 fans in attendance to see the Red team win 17-3. The Red team, which was the 1st team offense, looked pretty good and Stafford and Moreno looked sharp. This years receiving corps is going to be stronger than last years and it was good to see Kris Durham and Michael Moore make some big catches. Also, Caleb King is the real deal, he is going to keep the running attack going even if Knowshon is out of the game. On the defensive side of the ball, Rennie Curran kept up his strong play and Asher Allen had a pretty good game. I am still a little nervous about the “D” but I feel they will be a strong unit and will do a good job stopping some of the high scoring offenses in the SEC.

Recently the spring awards were handed out and they are as follows.

Hustle Award (offense): Knowshon Moreno, TB
Hustle Award (defense): Rennie Curran, WLB & Quintin Banks, SS
Best All-Around Offensive Player: Kenneth Harris, SE

The preseason rankings should be out soon and there is talk of Georgia being ranked #1 or #2, but I would rather them come in at #3, #4 or higher. Being ranked #1 or #2 is hard to live up to and it's like being set up to fail! But it would be sort of cool!

Go Dawgs!
