The Georgia Bulldogs put together an incredible run this past weekend. They made history on the way to winning the SEC Tournament. It is the first SEC Tournament title for UGA in 25 years! Coach Felton and his team knew the only way to keep their season alive was to win the tournament and that is exactly what they did! They had to play an impossible schedule playing 4 games in 3 days and having to beat a 1, two 2’s and a 3 seed to win the SEC title. Also, the Dawgs did this with only 8 scholarship players when most teams have 13. In addition, they played their best basketball of the year on their biggest in state rivals gym. They cut down the nets that were the property of Georgia Tech. I love it!Now the Dawgs are a 14 seed in the “Big Dance” and will face a 3 seed in Xavier on Thursday. This is not an impossible game for the Dawgs; they have proven they can win as underdogs. If they can get past Xavier, I can see them making it to the Sweet Sixteen. Making it to the NCAA Tournament is huge for the basketball program and Coach Felton. Coach has taken a lot of flack this year due to his strict rules. He has dismissed two of the best players on the team and who know how good they would be if those guys didn’t screw up and were still playing. But I will hand it to Coach Felton; he has stayed strong and didn’t compromise, even when most of the Bulldog nation was calling for his head. It is exciting to have the Dawgs back in the field of 64! Lets sit back and see what magic they can pull off this coming weekend!
Go Dawgs!
