Today is one week away from Meg’s last chemo treatment! This is supposed to be the week where she feels pretty good. This is the week where she usually goes into the office and tries to get caught back up on the work that she has missed the previous week and a half. This is the week where she usually has her full appetite and energy back. But this week is not working out the way it normally does between treatments. She is completely worn down; she has no energy and is still extremely sore and experiencing bone and joint pain. Her last blood test showed her red and white counts to be on the line of dangerously low. So we know that is contributing to her situation. But I also think that it is the accumulation of all of the chemo drugs in her system. She has been getting some nasty drugs pumped into her on a regular basis. Don’t get me wrong; I think she is doing incredible with all of this! She has shown amazing courage and strength. She is truly a fighter, but even Superman had a weakness. She only has one more treatment, but that doesn’t mean she will be back to normal as soon as the treatment is over. She will still have a tough battle ahead of her with the recovery and that seems to get worse each time. But we are almost at the end of the tunnel and I can promise you, it is a beautiful light that we are starting to see!

I felt like this was an appropriate picture for this post!

I am so sorry that Meg isn't feeling well, and I hope her WBC and RBC counts don't stay too low. What happens after the last chemo treatment? Does she begin radiation therapy, is there a break at all to let her body adjust to everything?
We are thinking of you guys! Alan, thanks for keeping everyone so well informed through this site.
